The Academy is pleased to offer a specialist YOUNG PERFORMERS Class for 3-5 year olds. 

What will the class consist of?

This class will cover music, song, dance and drama and will aim to lay a foundation for all of these subjects.

Every lesson will start with everyone sitting in a circle where we will talk about ourselves and what we have been doing during the week. We then progress to activities such as ‘Show and Tell’ and mini performances as the class gets more confident and feel able to apply some of the skills they have learnt.

The next section will be music and movement based and will vary from week to week. Activities will include making our own music with a variety of instruments, learning basic dance steps and eventually be able to put them into a short routine, singing in a group and eventually alone, listening and exploring different types of music from Disney to Classical.

The last section will be drama based and again will vary from week to week, including story telling, mime, basic character work using hats or props and developing concentration skills.
Every lesson will end in the circle so we can go over what we have done that week so we can remember some of the skills for next time.

The majority of our Young Performers then progress into the main school when they are 6 years old as they have gained confidence and the basic musical theatre skills to feel perfectly at home in the longer class.

All of our Young Performers take part in the Annual Show at a major theatre, previous sections have been based on Toy Story, Jungle Book, A Bugs life, Peter Pan and The Wizard Of Oz.
