Claire trained at Sylvia Young’s Theatre School and The Palmerstone Stage School. Since then she has danced all over the world on cruise ships, cabarets and variety shows including The Royal variety show. Claire is a veteran of 10 pantomimes in the UK, many at the Kenneth More in Ilford.
Claire has toured theatres all over the UK in ‘Les Follies De Paris’ and ‘The Laughter Party’ with Bernie Clifton and The Simmons Brothers. Claire also danced in a show about the life story of Al Jolson.
Her television credits include a Sky Striker for Sky Football, Serial Killers, the Bill and various pop videos including Kylie Minogue’s “Spinning Around”.
Claire is a vastly experienced choreographer and teacher having created all the movement for the National Children’s Theatre Tours of The Mr Men, Bananas in Pyjamas, Rupert, Dream Street, Engie Benjy & Barney! She also created a new dance for the charity ‘Whizz Kidz’, which appears on the Engie Benjy DVD. Claire has choreographed various pantomimes for Paul Holman Associates including Beauty & The Beast starring Linda Robson, Aladdin with Mark Wyngett and Snow White with Denise Nolan and Jez Edwards.
In 2002, Claire founded The Academy with Jason Francis. With 300+ children over 7 branches, running the ever expanding Academy is now her full time job!!
After graduating from the Italia Conti Academy of Performing Arts in London with Honours, Becky toured Germany in ‘Phantom of the Opera’ understudying and playing the role of Christine.
Since then she has appeared in numerous productions including: ‘Cabaret’, Union Theatre, London, ‘Return to the Forbidden Planet’, London and Herts, ‘Tonight’, Peacock Theatre, London. She has also appeared in many pantomimes up and down the country playing principal girl and more recently the Wicked Witch!
She has been a session singer and vocalists for various bands & even toured the UK and Ireland as a dancer and Magicians assistant.
Becky began teaching in her last year at Italia Conti and has taught music & performing arts at many different schools ever since. She joined The Academy in 2004 and loves being part of the team and is very proud of everyone involved.
Charlie is the youngest member of The Academy staff. He completed his performing arts A-level studies last summer; attaining 100% in B-tec dance. He has worked and performed with a number of different stage schools, artists and dance companies since the age of 6; such as C12 dance company at venues including ‘The Peacock Theatre’, ‘Sadler’s Wells Theatre’ – London and ‘The Kenneth Moore Theatre’.
Charlie filmed the lead for a ‘DFS ident’ last xmas, having also been a lead part of a few test commercial campaigns. He was selected as a Lead Vocalist in a group of ‘East London’s Advanced Singers’, with his biggest performance at The Atrium, London for Prince Andrew. In 2009, Charlie travelled to Snug Harbour, New York to perform as the lead in a devised piece – ‘Nylon : The story of Charlie and Jayne’.
He began teaching throughout his A-Levels, and has worked as a GCSE drama and dance teacher, a choreographer for 3 dance companies and co-ordinated several concerts and dance platforms. He was later employed as the Drama teacher at ‘McQuade Stage School’. Charlie joined ‘The Academy ‘ as a student at the Essex branch in 2005, becoming a choreographer here around 2 years ago.
Charlie is incredibly grateful for the opportunities he has had at ‘The Academy’; he has just started a brand new street dance class for ‘The Academy’ which has proved to be a great success!
Kate has been dancing since the young age of 2 ½ years old. At 16 Kate went to study at The Centre Performing Arts College, London where she gained a diploma in dance and musical theatre as well as her full teaching DDI’s in Ballet, Modern and Tap.
After graduating from college Kate went straight to work as a production dancer upon Costa Cruise Lines. She has also featured in music videos for various artists including Pixie Lott and Alisha Dixon. Kate featured in a promotional video for Beyonce’s 2010 tour which she used as part of her ‘Single Ladies’ Medley which still appears on you tube. Kate has performed in the chorus of various pantomimes and touring shows throughout the country.Film and television credits include The Basil Brush Show and many featured parts in various Bollywood Movies. Kate also reached the final stages for the west end musical Flashdance.
Kate has been teaching now for 8 years across Hetfordshire and Essex and loves being part of The Academy Team!
Stacey studied Drama and English, gaining a 2:1 from Loughborough University, after which she went on to Study Musical Theatre at The London School of Musical Theatre. Since graduating she has had a lot of experience in many areas of the industry.
She has just finished a short film called Best Bud where she played the female lead, which will be entered into film festivals this year. Other films include 'Coulda Shoulda Woulda' and 'Downsizing' and she was a regular dancer on The Justin Lee Collins Show, as well as dancing for Sky Sports and The Katy Brand show (to be aired in October).
Other TV and Film work includes adverts for Kellogg's, Wotsits, The Des O'Connor Show and more recently some pilot sitcoms. She is currently writing a comedy sketch show to be performed in London in the new year.
Stacey also loves musicals and has had a lot of experience in the theatre, performing in her own revue shows on the Battersea Barge and other small venues as well as Oliver! (London Palladium), Florinda/Granny in Into the Woods (Bridewell Theatre), Falariki: The Greek Tragedy (Lyric Hammersmith), Tales of Aviation Heroes (Soho Theatre), Little Red Riding Hood (Theatre Royal Stratford East), 1888 (Union Theatre). Stacey is really excited to pass on everything she knows whilst teaching at The Academy.
Nicola began professionally acting from a young age with her first lead role in the film “Yellow” starring alongside Ray Winstone, shortly followed by Eponine in Les Miserables at The Palace Theatre.
Since finishing at E15 Acting School, Nicola went straight into a play at the Soho Theatre and has since been working on various projects. Nicola has been working professionally for the last 12 years with roles in The Bill, Casualty, ITV Drama “Pickles”, many adverts with her latest being aired now, Short films and Plays at The Soho Theatre, Roundhouse Theatre and Royal Court Theatre.
She has also been teaching drama at various dance/drama schools for the last three years, which she loves and cannot wait to be part of The Academy especially as it is her former teacher's school.
David trained at Hertfordshire Theatre School – and is a professional actor, musician, writer and comedian with a wealth of experience in both teaching and performing.
He recently made his West End debut as Richard in “DREAMBOATS AND PETTICOATS” at the Playhouse Theatre, having previously worked on two national tours also for Bill Kenwright; one as Paul McCartney in “THE ROY ORBISON STORY”, and the other as lead guitarist in “ROCK AND ROLL HEAVEN”.
Other theatre credits include: Buddy Holly in “BUDDY HOLLY AND THE CRICKETERS” (UK and Ireland), seven seasons with “THE COMEDY PROJECT” (Soho Theatre, London) and “MARRY ME, OR BE EVICTED!” (Hen and Chickens, London). He is also co-deviser and MD of “GLAD ALL OVER!: A SIXTIES CELEBRATION” and has featured in a number of adverts for products ranging from Volkswagen to a little-known brand of Russian soup.
Credits with comedy duo DOGGETT & EPHGRAVE include: “DOGGETT & EPHGRAVE'S COMEDY SHORTS” (Soho Theatre, London), “COMEDY JOB LOT” (Etcetera Theatre and Camden Head, London), “THE BALLOON DEBATE” (Gilded Balloon, Edinburgh), “BIG IN SMALL PLACES" (Temple, Brighton and Meadow Bar, Edinburgh) – plus their self-run comedy club, “MOSTLY COMEDY”.
David was also lead singer and guitarist of BIG DAY OUT, who supported the likes of Slade, The Troggs, Kula Shaker and The Supernaturals.
Amy's love of acting started from a young age. Amy's professional credits include the feature length film 'Sleeping With Fishes', the lead role in Daisy Chain Productions short film 'Scared Little Girl', the lead role in 'Angelic' by Eyeline Productions and supporting roles in numerous professional projects including work for the English Speaking Board.
Amy's most recent roles include - Adela in Marc Prices feature film 'Way Of The Monkeys Claw' which is due for release this year, Rochelle in Lindsey Kennedy's short film 'Immortal Longings' and Chloe in Cre8 media's new mini series 'Cant Stop Acting'.
Dani trained at The Bristol Old Vic and The Arts Educational School of Musical Theatre.
Her professional acting credits include understudying the title role in Hedda Gabler for The Bath Theatre Royal, Portia in Julius Caesar and Antony and Cleopatra for Shakespeare at The Tobacco Factory, Julia in The Two Gentlemen of Verona and The Taming of The Shrew for The Guildford Shakespeare Company, Horatio in Hamlet for Icarus Theatre, Natalya in A Month In The Country at The Tobacco Factory, Frieda Joubert in Statements After An Arrest Under The Immortality Act, The Blue Room, Beauty and The Beast for The Haymarket in Basingstoke, Joseph and his Amazing Technicoloured Dreamcoat Kenwright UK tour, Copacabana UK tour, Sky Sports Premier Football Season Advert, AA Roadside Recovery Advert.
She writes and adapts children’s plays and has directed many productions including The Wedding Singer, Our House the Musical, The Dracula Spectacular Show, Honk, Oliver, The Farndale Avenue Townswoman’s Guild’s production of Macbeth, The Monster that Ate 3B, Annie, Bugsy Malone, Snoopy, Once Upon a Time, 101 Dalmations, Our Day Out.
Dani has taught LAMDA for 13 years and is on the LAMDA board of examiners. She is also currently training with The Academy of Performance Combat to be a fully qualified Stage Combat Teacher. She started her apprenticeship in 2009 and has been teaching at The Oxford School of Drama and Northampton University.
